Job Title: Branch Head, Operations and Logistics Branch

Department: Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water

Location: Australian Antarctic Division

Job Summary:

The Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Branch Head to lead the Operations and Logistics Branch at the Australian Antarctic Division. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing operations in Antarctica, supporting year-round research stations and remote field bases, and managing air and sea transport.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and Manage: Lead a team of professionals in a manner consistent with the Secretaries Charter of Leadership Behaviours, demonstrating dynamic leadership, respect, integrity, and a commitment to empowering others.
  • Operational Excellence: Deliver complex and safe operations in support of the Australian Antarctic Program, ensuring the effective management of resources, assets, and projects.
  • Financial Management: Manage a large budget and oversee significant assets, projects, and procurements, ensuring fiscal responsibility and accountability.
  • Workforce Management: Manage a diverse, geographically remote, and dispersed workforce, fostering inclusivity, respect, and positivity, and promoting a high-performance culture.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Work across Government, the Antarctic Science community, and with Antarctic Programs in other countries to achieve strong outcomes, promoting collaboration and cooperation.
  • Communication and Leadership: Exhibit integrity by displaying ethical behaviour in accordance with the APS Code of Conduct, APS Values, and APS Employment Principles, and promote a culture of continuous improvement and communication.

Requirements:

  • Citizenship: Australian citizenship is required.
  • Security Clearance: A Negative Vetting 2 security clearance is required, which the successful candidate will need to obtain and maintain.
