Animal Services Support Officer

About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced Animal Services Support Officer to join our team. This role involves providing support and services related to animal management, including handling companion animals, facilitating surrender and impounding of livestock, and educating owners on animal care and welfare.

The successful candidate will have formal qualifications or experience in animal management, excellent communication skills, and a current class C driver's licence.

Responsibilities:
  1. Ensure tasks are carried out to meet customer and business needs within nominated time frames
  2. Seize and/or impound companion animals in compliance with legislative requirements and Council's policies and procedures
  3. Facilitate the surrender of companion animals and the impounding of livestock at BARC or elsewhere within Council boundaries
  4. Reunite animal owners with their pets as quickly as possible
  5. Provide education to animal owners on provisions of legislation which affect them
