As we embark on an exciting new chapter with the commencement of our arbitration service, we are searching for our inaugural group of Arbitration Officers. In this role you will be an independent statutory decision-maker, responsible for conducting the arbitration and determining disputes as a key contributor to the success of the Workplace Injury Commission arbitration service.

Drawing on your experience in alternative dispute resolution, you will deliver a consistent and high-quality arbitration service. You will contribute to a culture of high performance and accountability, with a commitment to delivering outstanding arbitration services.

With integrity, accountability and a collaborative mindset, you will:

  • Conduct arbitration hearings in a fair, impartial and informal manner with independence and authority
  • Evaluate evidence and submissions and make clear, lawful, evidence-based determinations
  • Manage a diverse caseload of disputes for arbitration and produce well-structured, concise and clear determinations
  • Develop and maintain effective internal and external stakeholder relationships that support our purpose and vision, as well as the team's ability to deliver an exceptional arbitration service

What you'll bring:

A relevant tertiary qualification in law, dispute resolution or business management and extensive experience in conciliation, arbitration or alternative dispute resolution

Experience leading or conducting arbitration hearings and determining disputes in a fair, impartial and professional way

Comprehensive knowledge of, and experience working within the Victorian WorkCover scheme or similar scheme

Well-developed verbal and written communication skills and the ability to engage with a broad range of audiences including participants in hearings, parties to disputes and representatives
