Lead Educator for Deaf Students

Role Overview
The role of an Auslan teacher with classroom support involves delivering high-quality education to students who are deaf or hard of hearing. The successful applicant will have a strong understanding of the relevant curriculum and be able to incorporate literacy and numeracy skills into their teaching practice.
Key Responsibilities:
- To provide comprehensive Auslan and classroom support to students who are deaf or hard of hearing.
- To develop and implement impactful teaching strategies that cater to the diverse needs of students, resulting in improved learning outcomes.
- To work collaboratively with colleagues and the broader school community to support student learning, agency, wellbeing, and engagement.
- To reflect upon practice and engage in ongoing professional learning to continually improve the quality of teaching.

Selection Criteria:
- Demonstrated knowledge of the relevant curriculum, including the ability to integrate the teaching of literacy and numeracy skills.
- Demonstrated experience in responding to student learning needs.
- Demonstrated experience in planning for and implementing effective teaching strategies, guided by how students learn, and evaluating the impact of learning and teaching programs on student learning growth.
- Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills.
- Demonstrated behaviours and attitudes consistent with Department values.
