Educator of Deaf Students
Located in a semi-rural setting on the Mornington Peninsula, our school is one of Victoria's most community-connected schools. Our dedicated team provides a holistic approach to education that recognises the diverse needs of students and tailors teaching and learning to enable them to reach their potential.
We have a strong focus on providing a welcoming, caring, and friendly environment for all students. Our school community is actively encouraged to participate in various activities, including classroom help, excursions, and camps. We also host a specialist program for deaf and hard of hearing students who receive listening, speech, and language training and support from facility staff.
The student family occupation index is consistently around 0.34, indicating a relatively low socioeconomic status. However, we pride ourselves on being an inclusive school that values diversity and provides opportunities for students from all backgrounds to succeed.
To ensure academic success, we have implemented targeted interventions in literacy and numeracy, including the Government Funded Tutor Learning Initiative and the Department for EYKLNP - Early years Koorie Literacy and Numeracy Program. These programs provide additional support to eligible students, enabling them to achieve their full potential.
We are committed to ongoing research into optimising learning for our students and have embedded a culture of collaboration among our professional learning teams. This has led to improved outcomes and recognition of our specialist programs in Performing Arts, Physical Education, STEM, Visual Arts, and AUSLAN.
**Key Selection Criteria:
- Demonstrated knowledge of the relevant curriculum and ability to incorporate literacy and numeracy skills
- Experience in planning and implementing high-impact teaching strategies guided by how students learn
- Moderating and assessing student learning and using data to inform teaching practice
- Providing feedback on student learning growth and achievement to students and parents
As a Professional Learning Community, we value a shared responsibility for student learning and continuous improvement. If you are passionate about making a positive impact on the lives of deaf students, we invite you to join our team as an educator.
