Statistical Data Scientist

The International Society for Bayesian Analysis invites applications for a Research Fellow/Senior Research Fellow in Statistical Data Science.

This is an exciting opportunity to provide critical support through methodological development in Statistical Data Science to meet challenges faced in the energy sector.

Main areas of research include:

  • Developing advanced statistical models for spatial and spatio-temporal data analysis
  • Applying physical-statistical modelling techniques to real-world problems
  • Designing efficient algorithms for Bayesian inference and uncertainty quantification
  • Optimising statistical machine learning methods for complex data sets
  • Analysing time series data using cutting-edge techniques

Collaboration with researchers at NIASRA and other members of the Hub will be a key aspect of this role.

This is a vibrant and active research environment, comprising inter-disciplinary expertise in oceanography, engineering, and data science.

The ideal candidate will have, or be close to having, a PhD in Statistics or a closely related discipline, excellent statistical modelling skills, strong programming skills, and effective communication skills.

This position is for three years, with the possibility of extension.
