About this role

This is an exciting opportunity for a Head of Primary Freight to join our organization and lead the development and execution of a bold strategy to grow the business.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in freight, logistics, or supply chain business development, with a proven track record of driving business growth and managing P&L, financial forecasting, and operational performance.

Key responsibilities will include building and maintaining a profitable customer base, forming and managing strategic partnerships with suppliers and carriers, designing scalable freight solutions, and overseeing end-to-end operations to ensure service excellence, safety, and compliance.

The successful candidate will also be responsible for driving innovation and scalability through technology, automation, and data analytics, as well as leading and developing a high-performing commercial and operational team.

We are looking for a visionary leader who can champion a customer-first mindset and align with our broader Supply Chain strategy.

To be considered for this role, you will need to possess exceptional negotiation, stakeholder management, and influencing skills, as well as a tertiary qualification in business, marketing, or finance.

Requirements
  • 10+ years' experience in freight, logistics, or supply chain business development (ideally in retail or FMCG)
  • Strong commercial acumen with a proven record of driving business growth
  • Experience managing P&L, financial forecasting, and operational performance
  • Exceptional negotiation, stakeholder management, and influencing skills
  • A vision-driven mindset balanced with hands-on execution
  • Strong leadership skills, with a passion for building capability and fostering innovation
  • Tertiary qualifications in business, marketing, or finance
