The Cairns Maintainer II role involves providing carpentry maintenance services to the Kuranda Scenic Railway Operations and other areas of the Rollingstock Maintenance Depot.

Key Responsibilities include performing preventative maintenance and repairs to carriages, contributing to the Kuranda Scenic Railway Carriage Overhaul & Refurbishment Program, participating in a semi-autonomous team environment, ensuring accurate data entry into maintenance systems and supporting continuous improvement initiatives. Additionally, the role requires monitoring and planning operational safety practices.

Requirements
  • Certificate III in Carpentry is mandatory for this position.
  • High-level skills in overhaul, refurbishment, maintenance, and fault finding on timber structures are essential.
  • Substantial experience working in semi-autonomous teams with minimal supervision is required.
  • Sound knowledge of depot maintenance practices and procedures is necessary.
  • Strong understanding of safety and environmental practices and procedures is also required.
  • Familiarity with quality management principles is an advantage.
