Rollingstock Maintenance Specialist

We are seeking a skilled Carpenter to join our Rollingstock Maintenance team at the Cairns Depot. As a key member of our team, you will provide carpentry maintenance services to the Kuranda Scenic Railway Operations and other areas of the Rollingstock Maintenance Depot.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform preventative maintenance and repairs to carriages, ensuring reliability and availability.
  • Contribute to the Kuranda Scenic Railway Carriage Overhaul & Refurbishment Program.
  • Participate in a semi-autonomous team environment, supporting safety, training, and depot operations.
  • Ensure accurate data entry into maintenance systems and support continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Monitor and plan operational safety practices.
Requirements:
  • Certificate III in Carpentry.
  • High-level skills in overhaul, refurbishment, maintenance, and fault finding on timber structures.
  • Substantial experience working in semi-autonomous teams with minimal supervision.
  • Solid knowledge of depot maintenance practices and procedures.
  • Strong understanding of safety and environmental practices and procedures.
  • Familiarity with quality management principles.
  • Willingness to commit to and work within established procedures and standards.
