Research Professional for Carbon Composite H2 Tank Development

We are seeking a highly skilled Research Associate to join our team at the School of Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering, UNSW Australia. As a key member of our research group, you will be responsible for assisting in the selection of materials for composites used in a proof-of-concept cryogenic composite tank.
Our project, led by Rux Energy, aims to develop advanced manufacture techniques for carbon composite H2 tanks. Your expertise will play a critical role in guiding the design and manufacturing approaches of larger tanks for commercialization.
Key Responsibilities- Assist in the selection of materials for composites used in a proof-of-concept cryogenic composite tank
- Develop storage system simulations to guide the design and manufacturing approaches of larger tanks for commercialization
To succeed in this role, you will need:
- A PhD (or equivalent) in a related discipline, such as Mechanical/Aerospace/Materials/Manufacturing Engineering
- Proven commitment to proactively keeping up to date with discipline knowledge and developments
- Demonstrated ability to undertake high-quality academic research and conduct independent research with limited supervision
- Demonstrated track record of publications and conference presentations relative to opportunity
- Demonstrated ability to work in a team, collaborate across disciplines, and build effective relationships
- Evidence of highly developed interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated ability to communicate and interact with a diverse range of stakeholders and students
This position offers a unique opportunity to develop your industry research and professional activities. You will also have the chance to participate in conferences and workshops, assist with the supervision of students, and engage with fellow researchers both at UNSW and other institutions.
The salary for this role is approximately AUD $110,059 to $117,718 per annum, plus 17% superannuation. The contract is fixed-term for 24 months.
