We are seeking a highly skilled Materials Scientist to join our team at UNSW Australia. As a Research Associate, you will contribute to an exciting project led by Rux Energy, focusing on the design and advanced manufacture of carbon composite H2 tanks for heavy mobility.

The successful candidate will investigate the mechanical and adsorbent properties of Metal Organic Framework (MOF) hydrogen storage materials, as well as simulate and optimize the manufacturing process for Rux Energy's patented MOFs. This is a unique opportunity to develop your industry research and professional activities, participate in conferences and workshops, assist with student supervision, and engage with fellow researchers both at UNSW and other institutions.

This full-time position offers a competitive salary package, including AUD $110,059 to $117,718 per annum + 17% superannuation. The contract duration is 24 months, with a fixed-term agreement.

About the Role

  • PhD (or equivalent) in a related discipline, such as Mechanical/Aerospace/Materials/Manufacturing Engineering
  • Proven commitment to staying up-to-date with discipline knowledge and developments
  • Demonstrated ability to undertake high-quality academic research and conduct independent research with limited supervision
  • Demonstrated track record of publications and conference presentations relative to opportunity
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team, collaborate across disciplines, and build effective relationships
  • Evidence of highly developed interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate and interact with diverse stakeholders and students
  • Understanding of and commitment to UNSW's aims, objectives, and values in action, together with relevant policies and guidelines
