Delivering Primary Health Care Across Far North Queensland

As a GP Registrar, this role offers the unique opportunity to take your training to the next level and experience the challenges of delivering primary health care across diverse communities in Far North Queensland.

About this position:

  • Based in Cairns, provide FIFO services across FNQ (including Cape York)
  • Combination of day clinic and overnight clinic rosters
  • Full time or part time position available
  • Fractional FTE available (not less than 0.5FTE)
  • 6 or 12-month maximum term contract considered
Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide general practice services including history taking, examination, decision making, diagnostics ordering and interpretation, clinical procedures, specialist referrals or secondary care admissions
  • Respond to acute or emergent patients pending retrieval services attendance
  • Offer telehealth consultations using telephone, videoconference, email
  • Collaborate and liaise with other healthcare providers for integrated patient care
  • Advise nurses and other healthcare professionals as required
  • Participate in quality improvement activities such as clinical audits and case reviews
  • Respect cultural diversity including traditional Indigenous views on health

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • AHPRA registration as a Medical Practitioner
  • At least 3 years post graduate experience
  • RACGP GPT 3 qualification or above with at least 12 months community GP experience
  • ACRRM CGT 2 qualification or above with either 6/12 primary care or 6/12 rural and remote practice experience
  • Ability to meet PHC credentialing requirements
  • Previous experience in Emergency Medicine is desirable
