The School of Philosophy & Theology at The University of Notre Dame Australia is seeking expressions of interest from experienced academics to teach on a sessional basis across various programs. We are particularly interested in candidates with subject matter expertise in Philosophy informed by Catholic Theology, Catholic Theology informed by Philosophy, History of Philosophy, Sacramental Theology, Moral Theology, and Bioethics - philosophical or theological Bioethics in the Catholic tradition.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct tutorials/lectures to the standard of the School, preparing lesson plans and facilitating informed group discussions to enhance student engagement.
- Consult with students on readings, weekly topics, and upcoming assessments.
- Assist with assessment administration, including marking, entering results, and providing feedback to students as required.
- Attend meetings as required by the Course Coordinator/Program Coordinator.
- Identify students at risk through thorough tutorial attendance recording.
- Support the Objects of Notre Dame as a Catholic University.
- Hold a minimum of an undergraduate qualification or equivalent professional experience.
- Prior teaching experience at the tertiary level with a sound understanding of pedagogical and/or adult learning principles.
- Demonstrated ability to deal effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
- Ability to deliver quality learning and teaching practices in multiple modes, including online delivery.
- Demonstrated ability to develop resources/curriculum documents and criteria-based assessment tasks.
- Ability to incorporate technology into teaching and learning.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to foster high levels of collegiality and empathise with students.
- Proven ability to assess priority of tasks, manage workload, and meet deadlines in a busy education environment.
