Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Local Programs Officer to coordinate and support the management of our local programs strategy.

The role will involve delivering across two primary modalities for local programming: leading and managing small local projects, and coordinating and supporting local partner projects managed by Not-For-Profit and Community-Based Organisations.

You will be responsible for project development skills, project cycle management and grant management expertise, applying quality and accountability frameworks, and engaging members of the community in Australia.

  1. Support the Director of Programs in the management of local emergency, welfare and development projects directly implemented by us and our local partners.
  2. Contribute to organisational planning and strategic direction setting for local programs.
  3. Support and motivate staff and volunteers involved in local programs and projects.
  4. Assist the Director with program development, assessing opportunities for engagement in local and international programming, designing proposals, and liaising with partners and beneficiaries.
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Significant previous experience in a similar role at a local level.
  • Qualified to a degree level, ideally in the social sciences, including social work.
  • At least 2 years of experience working with local programs in a community development setting.
  • Knowledge and understanding of program implementation within the charity sector.
  • Good leadership and people management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Cross-cultural communication skills and knowledge of Islamic faith values.
Key Responsibilities
  • To lead and manage small local projects where we are the implementing agent.
  • To coordinate and support local projects managed by local Not-For-Profit and Community-Based Organisations.
