Medical Defence Lawyer Position

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Defence Lawyer to join our team. As a Medical Defence Lawyer, you will be responsible for providing legal advice and representation to medical professionals in a variety of settings.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in medical law, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively with clients and other stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Providing legal advice and representation to medical professionals in relation to medical defence matters.
  • Conducting investigations and gathering evidence to support or defend against medical complaints.
  • Representing medical professionals in court proceedings and before tribunals.
  • Developing and maintaining relationships with clients and other stakeholders.
Requirements:
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in law.
  • Eligibility to hold an unsupervised practising certificate as a Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Western Australia and the High Court of Australia.
  • Demonstrated post-admission experience in private practice (ideally 2-4 years) in medical negligence, professional conduct related litigation experience is preferred.
  • Previous experience in conducting all phases of litigation and/or professional conduct cases.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • High level of prioritisation, time management and self-management skills.
  • Ability to mentor and support junior team members.
