Project Coordinator for Community Development

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to lead impactful projects for children, young people, and their families in Yarra.

You will have a chance to work in a dynamic environment with flexible working arrangements and an emphasis on work-life balance.

The role coordinates and implements strategic projects that drive continuous improvement and integrated service delivery in response to community needs, policy changes, legislation, and funding reform.

You will oversee and coordinate the branch administration team, working closely with the leadership team and Manager to ensure timely and informed decisions by the Executive Leadership Team and Councillors.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead projects for children, young people, and their families in Yarra
  • Coordinate and implement strategic projects that drive continuous improvement and integrated service delivery
  • Oversee and coordinate the branch administration team
  • Work closely with the leadership team and Manager to ensure timely and informed decisions

About the Branch

Yarra City Council's Family, Youth and Children's Services Branch is a team that supports and improves the lives and outcomes of children, families, and young people.

The branch plans for, advocates, and partners with others to provide integrated services from birth to 25 years.

The branch has five service units:

  • Children's Services provides and strategically plans for early childhood and education and care services
  • Connie Benn Centre is an integrated family and children's hub
  • Family Services includes Maternal and Child Health, immunisation, Integrated Family Services, and playgroups
  • Service Planning and Development leads policy, research, evaluation, strategic service planning, and projects
  • Youth and Middle Years Services partners with young people to provide programs and advocacy

The successful applicant will be a strong communicator, politically astute, capable of leading and managing complex projects with a wide range of stakeholders, and a strategic thinker.
