
Senior Perinatal Mental Health Lead

- Main Responsibilities:
- Facilitate intake, triage, and screening of referrals to connect parents experiencing moderate to severe perinatal and infant mental health concerns with tailored, appropriate services.
- Coordinate care pathways by collaborating closely with multidisciplinary teams, including clinicians, cultural consultants, and community providers to ensure integrated, culturally appropriate support.
- Provide expert guidance and clinical decision-making to facilitate timely access to the right perinatal mental health services, prioritizing client safety and wellbeing.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of local perinatal mental health services and eligibility criteria, acting as a resource for health professionals on referral options, pathways and eligibility.
- Relevant degree enabling full membership with the Australian Association of Social Workers or general registration with the Psychology Board of Australia (for Senior Clinician).
- Registered or eligible for registration as a Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia and who holds, or who is eligible to hold, a current practicing certificate (for Nurse Consultant).
- Minimum of 3 years post-registration experience.
- Proven ability to conduct comprehensive perinatal biopsychosocial assessments, risk assessments, and develop individualized care plans including risk management and safeguarding.
- Strong leadership, communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills with experience working effectively in multidisciplinary teams, including Aboriginal families and communities.
- In-depth knowledge of mental health issues related to pregnancy, birth, postnatal period, trauma-informed care, attachment theory, and social determinants impacting infant, child, and family wellbeing.
- Relocation financial support may be negotiated, subject to eligibility.
- Salary package including living expenses such as mortgage, rent, utility bills and groceries up to $9,010 each FBT year + $2,650 for Meal Entertainment expenses each FBT year.
