Energy Research Associate

We are seeking a skilled analyst to contribute to our Resources & Energy Equity Research team. The successful candidate will work closely with the team to develop in-depth research on the mining value chain, leveraging financial models and industry insights to drive stock recommendations. Strong analytical skills and a deep understanding of financial modelling are essential for this role, requiring proficiency in Microsoft Excel and the ability to balance complex commodity market fundamentals, technical engineering data, and commercial relationships. The analyst will be responsible for presenting research findings to internal stakeholders and external clients, including fund managers and trading teams. Effective communication, relationship-building, and management skills are crucial for success in this position.
Key Responsibilities:- Develop and maintain a deep understanding of the mining value chain, including commodity markets, technical engineering data, and commercial relationships.
- Design and implement financial models and valuation databases for all stocks under primary coverage.
- Contribute to the development of investment products, including company, sector, and thematic reports.
- Respond to market news, earnings releases, and other market-moving information in a proactive and timely manner.
- Support client engagement and relationship-building activities, including bespoke work and research projects.
- Collaborate with the sales team to communicate research findings and drive business growth.
- Bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant field, such as business, finance, or a mining-related discipline.
- 3-7 years of experience in a related field, including sell-side research, investment banking, or adjacent industries.
- Strong analytical skills, financial modelling expertise, and a deep understanding of carbon and commodity markets.
- Excellent communication, relationship-building, and management skills, with the ability to work effectively with internal stakeholders and external clients.
- High sense of commercial awareness and ability to balance multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
