The Tamworth Rural Referral Hospital is seeking an experienced Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon to join their team. This exciting opportunity will provide the successful candidate with a chance to work in a major health facility, delivering high-quality patient-focused care.


As a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at the hospital, you will be supported by a team of four permanent Registrars and three Junior Medical Officers. Your responsibilities will include elective surgery, trauma theatre, orthopaedic and fracture clinics, daily ward rounds, on-call roster duties, teaching, and supporting the Registrar team.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Delivering admitting, consultative, diagnostic, procedural, outpatient, telehealth, and on-call services as required by HNELHD.
  • Attending and being available during rostered work hours and whilst on-call, including clinical handover, clinical supervision, teaching, and emergency and routine care as determined by HNELHD.
  • Providing education and research as required by HNELHD.

Requirements:
  • Fellowship from the Royal Australian College of Surgeons (Orthopaedic Surgery) and/or specialist registration with AHPRA.
  • Demonstrated recent and comprehensive experience in Orthopaedic Surgery.
  • Maintaining medical professional development and assisting other staff in acquiring and developing knowledge.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills for communicating with patients, students, other health professionals, and the public.
  • Ability to network and operate within an interdisciplinary framework and work with other stakeholders in various settings.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing health system requirements, past leadership and management experience, and previous safety and quality improvement activities.
  • Continued professional development, peer review, and other forms of clinical governance.
  • Contributions to improving individual and societal health.
