Overview

The Department of Home Affairs is seeking a highly skilled Procurement and Contract Management Professional to join our team. As a key member of the Operational Capability Branch, you will be responsible for managing and contributing to national projects that protect the capability and usability of one of the world's largest geographically dispersed UHF operational Enforcement Communications networks.

About the Role

This is an ongoing full-time position offering a competitive salary package, including salary, superannuation benefits, and flexible working conditions. The successful candidate will work with a level of autonomy as part of a small team within the Project team, contributing to best practice procurement activities, within Departmental policy and guidelines, Public Governance, Performance and Accountability Act 2013, and the Commonwealth Procurement Rules.

Key Responsibilities

  • Use existing government contracts, Panel arrangements, and other appropriate procurement mechanisms to procure services and hardware
  • Contribute to Branch procurement activities such as open approaches to market, contract variations, and Panel contracts
  • Provide procurement and contract management advice and support to the Section and stakeholders in relation to contract establishment process and ongoing management, including identification of opportunities to improve procurement outcomes, efficiency, and value for money
  • Maintain strong stakeholder relationships and support contract managers with contract enquiries, issues, disputes, variations, risks, negotiations, and coordination of large and complex extensions or approaches to market

Requirements

  • A minimum Certificate IV in Procurement and Contracting (or equivalent) or willingness to attain as a matter of priority
  • At least 2 years of recent experience in a primarily procurement or project-based role
  • Knowledge and experience in government procurement and contract management activities are highly desirable
