Job Overview

We are seeking a seasoned legal professional to join our Regulatory Legal team.

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing expert legal support and guidance on regulatory activities, including investigations and prosecutions under the federal Work Health and Safety Act 2011 (WHS Act).

In this critical role, you will work closely with the Commonwealth Director of Public Prosecutions and Inspectors to ensure that all regulatory actions are taken in accordance with the law.

You will also be responsible for mentoring and supervising junior team members, helping them to develop their skills and expertise.

Main Responsibilities
  • Provide legal advice and support to investigations, inspections, and other regulatory activity under the WHS Act.
  • Assist with the conduct of prosecutions commenced under the WHS Act.
  • Mentor and supervise junior team members.

To be successful in this role, you will need to have:

a strong understanding of the WHS Act and related legislation;

extensive experience in providing legal advice and support in a regulatory context;

excellent communication and interpersonal skills;

the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
