We are seeking a skilled Criminal Law Solicitor to join our team in Frankston.
Key Responsibilities:- Represent clients in both the Magistrates' and County Courts of Victoria, appearing in court on a daily or near-daily basis.
- Attend to client appointments, obtain instructions, and prepare court appearances.
- Prepare briefs for Counsel and letters of instruction for psychologists, psychiatrists, neuropsychiatrists, and medical clinicians.
- Manage a high volume of summary files in the Magistrates' Court and potentially indictable files that finalize in the County and Supreme Courts.
- Competent and confident courtroom advocacy on behalf of clients.
- Exceptional client management skills.
- Able to attend to a high volume of clients and prioritize time effectively.
- Punctual, reliable, strong work ethic, and passion for social justice.
- Familiarity with Victoria Legal Aid's guidelines regarding criminal matters is an advantage.
- Previous Criminal Law experience as a solicitor or administrative assistant is an advantage.
- Exciting and varied criminal law work, including representing clients daily in the Magistrates' Court.
- Great mentoring and experience within a fantastic cultural environment of like-minded staff.
