Overview: A dynamic urban design professional is sought to lead a multidisciplinary team in delivering innovative plans, guidelines and designs for town centres, public realm assets and active transport infrastructure.

About the Opportunity

Reporting to the Manager Parks & Public Realm, you will guide and empower your team to prepare plans, guidelines, and designs for vibrant urban environments that reflect the community's diverse needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead, manage and motivate a multi-disciplinary team to deliver high-quality services, programs and projects.
  • Develop comprehensive plans, guidelines and designs for town centres, public realm assets, streetscapes and active transport infrastructure.
  • Prepare project briefs, business cases, and capital works programming for strategic urban design initiatives.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to advance urban design outcomes.
  • Ensure compliance with organizational values and contribute to policy development related to open spaces and urban forests.
Requirements
  • Professional tertiary qualifications in Urban Design, Planning, Architecture, Landscape Architecture or related discipline.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience in managing a multidisciplinary team delivering complex projects.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to negotiate outcomes and influence stakeholders in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience in strategy and policy development, consultation, analysis, evaluation, and implementation as it applies to urban planning.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to work under pressure to achieve results.
