Austin Health is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Paediatric Registrar to join our dynamic team in the Paediatric Medicine department.

About the Role

This is a full-time, fixed-term position providing maternity leave cover from September 2024 to February 2025. The successful candidate will participate in a 7-week roster that rotates between day shifts on the ward, evening shifts on the ward, night shifts on the ward, and assisting in the Emergency Department, clinic shifts, non-clinical duties, and shifts in the Emergency Department.

About the Department

The Paediatric Medicine department at Austin Health is a paediatric teaching hospital with a 16-bed inpatient unit and a Paediatric Outpatients service attending to around 3000 patients per year. The department has a variety of clinics, including general paediatrics, adolescent and child eating disorder program, and a fortnightly diabetes clinic.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide high-quality patient care in a dynamic and fast-paced environment
  • Participate in a 7-week roster that rotates between day shifts on the ward, evening shifts on the ward, night shifts on the ward, and assisting in the Emergency Department, clinic shifts, non-clinical duties, and shifts in the Emergency Department
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to provide comprehensive care to patients
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with patients, families, and healthcare professionals
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of clinical policies and procedures
Requirements
  • Be registered as a Medical Practitioner with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
  • Have appropriate training and experience applicable to the field of Paediatric Medicine, including neonatal experience
  • Demonstrate a commitment to high-quality patient care, teamwork, and collaboration
  • Be able to participate in the roster for after-hours and weekend cover
