Support individuals from your own cultural background as they navigate settlement challenges in a new country.
Families in Cultural Transition ProgramThis program empowers newly arrived refugees and asylum seekers to settle in Australia, delivered in community settings and focusing on capacity building and empowerment.
Main Responsibilities:- Develop and deliver groups of 12-16 participants in the 10-week STARTTS 'Families in Cultural Transition' program.
- Craft tailored programs selecting activities most relevant to group members' needs, culture, and experience.
- Recruit participants and arrange venue, catering, and childminding for groups.
- Qualifications or extensive experience in education, adult education, social work, social science, community work, community welfare, health, or related field.
- Understanding of key issues faced by refugees and asylum seekers settling in a new country and culture.
- Strong connections with the refugee community from your language/cultural background in Sydney.
- Ability to speak, read, and write English at an intermediate level and fluently in a relevant community language.
- Capacity to work independently and collaboratively with a group co-facilitator.
