About this Role

This position involves overseeing mandates of government bonds, corporate bonds, mortgage-backed securities, and other fixed income instruments.

  • Construct and maintain diversified portfolios to meet return, duration, and risk targets.
  • Compile advisory reports and make informed recommendations on new investment/asset class opportunities and funds/strategies that could enhance or diversify portfolios.
  • Monitor economic and industry conditions and assess the impact on existing fixed income book pools.

The successful candidate will also be responsible for:

  • Evaluating issuer creditworthiness and familiarizing themselves with credit ratings (Moody's, S&P, Fitch).
  • Understanding bond math, duration, convexity, yield curves, and spread analysis.
  • Driving improvement of strategic asset allocation framework and aligning fixed income investments with life insurance liabilities.

To excel in this position, you should have:

  • 5–10 years' experience in investment management, ideally with insurance, defined benefit or other liability matching exposure.
  • Experience managing or assisting fixed income portfolios.
  • Advanced Excel skills and a strong understanding of information technology.

We are looking for a candidate with a tertiary qualification in Finance, Economics, Actuarial Science, or Quantitative disciplines.

CFA / Masters (or working towards) or Actuarial training viewed favourably.

Good written and verbal communication skills are essential for effective coordination with committees.
