About This Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled Media and Content Officer to join our dynamic team at The University of Queensland. As a key member of our communications team, you will play a critical role in shaping the University's storytelling for our key audiences of media, industry, government, and community.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the media team by liaising with subject matter experts, internal and external stakeholders, and assisting with media strategies and communication plans.
  • Research, create, and produce original multimedia content to effectively tell the stories of the University's researchers, staff, and students.
  • Assist with the production and monitoring of social media content, as well as managing content calendars to ensure timely and relevant updates across the University's channels.
  • Respond to media enquiries, assist journalists with gathering information, and build strong relationships with a broad range of media outlets.
About You
  • A degree in journalism, communications, or a related field, with at least 1 year of experience in media, public relations, or a similar industry role.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritise effectively, and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience using social media and digital media platforms to engage and reach diverse audiences.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and build positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
