Job Opportunity

The Centre for Digestive Diseases seeks a skilled medical receptionist and typist to join our administration team.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced professional who can provide excellent customer service, communicate effectively, and work well in a team environment.

To succeed in this role, you will be responsible for:

  • Answering phone enquiries and booking patient appointments as the first point of contact
  • Greeting and welcoming patients and visitors, directing them to the appropriate department
  • Managing and resolving patient inquiries
  • Patient bookings, preparation of all admission/discharge paperwork
  • Providing concise and relevant information to patients
  • Administrative tasks related to patient care
  • Processing patient payments and claims via credit card, Medicare, and Private Health Funds
  • End-of-day reconciliations (Eftpos, credit card, and cash) and tracking of practice invoices and receipts
  • General administrative duties including filing, faxing, and email management
  • Liaising with other healthcare providers, government providers, insurance companies, and health funds
  • Patient data entry using medical software
  • Telephone duties receiving and directing calls, taking messages efficiently/accurately

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Previous medical practice experience
  • Excellent customer service skills through all communications channels
  • Good written, verbal, and phone communication skills in a professional manner
  • Fluency in English, knowledge of Medicare & Health Funds, medical terminology, and medical practice software
  • Reasonable typing speed, high accuracy, and grammar
  • Strong ability to multi-task, time manage, prioritize workloads, meet deadlines, and maintain attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, respecting confidentiality and privacy
  • Great interpersonal skills with patients and team members
