About the Role

The Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Engagement Worker is a critical position that requires a strong understanding of Aboriginal health and culture. The successful candidate will engage and develop relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people who face significant barriers to accessing services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Participate in assertive street outreach activities to connect with clients and provide support.
  • Act as an advocate for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander clients, particularly those who are homeless and/or have complex health and social wellness needs.
  • Provide harm reduction education, advocacy, referral, and support services to clients to promote safer use and disposal of injecting equipment.
  • Link individuals into appropriate ongoing community services, including culturally specific, mental health, social support, and health services.

Requirements
  • Must be of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent.
