About the Role

Kirinari Community Services is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Youth Support Worker to join our team. As a Youth Support Worker, you will provide individualized support to children and young people residing in our Out-of-Home Care (OOHC) homes.

Our young people have experienced childhood trauma, abuse, or neglect and may have mental health, physical, or psychosocial disabilities. We are looking for a resilient and committed team member who can support young people to build skills and strengths within a therapeutic model of care.

The successful candidate will provide direct person-centered support and care to young people, ensuring their individual needs are met. This includes crisis intervention, ongoing support, maintaining a safe and welcoming home environment, and empowering young people to develop skills that support them to live a good life within their local community.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support young people to develop independent living skills
  • Support young people to achieve their goals
  • Support young people to engage in their local communities
  • Daily care and support, including assisting with household duties
  • Transporting young people to and from appointments
  • Supporting connection to family and culture
  • Working alongside other professionals to deliver multi-disciplinary care

Requirements:

  • Demonstrate a commitment to the safety of children, young people, and people with a disability
  • An understanding of strength-based trauma-informed practice
  • Qualifications in Community Services, Residential Care, or related areas (Cert IV)
  • Previous experience in residential therapeutic care and complex trauma
  • Willingness to work a flexible roster, including weekends, evenings, and sleepovers
  • Ability to obtain the NDIS Workers Screening Check prior to commencement
  • Ability to obtain a paid NSW Working with Children Check prior to commencement
  • Willingness to be registered on the NSW Residential Care Workers Register
  • Complete a National Criminal History Check (paid by Kirinari)
  • Ability to be physically active and engage with young people playing games/sport
  • Ability to use computers and learn a variety of software/programs
  • Hold a current Driver's License
