About the Role

Kirinari Community Services is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Youth Support Worker to join our team. As a Youth Support Worker, you will play a vital role in providing individualized support and care to children and young people residing in our Out-of-Home Care (OOHC) homes.

Our young people have experienced childhood trauma, abuse, or neglect and may have mental health, physical, or psychosocial disabilities. We are looking for a resilient and committed team member who can support young people to build skills and strengths within a therapeutic model of care, providing safety and empowerment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide direct person-centered support and care to young people, ensuring their individual needs are met.
  • Support young people to develop independent living skills, achieve their goals, and engage in their local communities.
  • Maintain a safe and welcoming home environment, and empower young people to develop skills that support them to live a good life within their local community.
  • Work alongside other professionals to deliver multi-disciplinary care, including crisis intervention and ongoing support.
Requirements
  • Demonstrate a commitment to the safety of children, young people, and people with a disability.
  • Have an understanding of strength-based trauma-informed practice or be willing to learn.
  • Hold qualifications in Community Services, Residential Care, or related areas (Cert IV) or higher.
  • Have previous experience in residential therapeutic care and complex trauma (highly regarded).
  • Be willing to work a flexible roster, including weekends, evenings, and sleepovers.
  • Be able to obtain the NDIS Workers Screening Check and NSW Working with Children Check prior to commencement.
  • Be willing to be registered on the NSW Residential Care Workers Register.
  • Hold a current Driver's License.
