About the Role

Kirinari Community Services is seeking a dedicated Youth Support Worker to provide individualized support for children and young people residing in our Out-of-Home Care (OOHC) homes.

Our young people have experienced childhood trauma, abuse, or neglect and may have mental health, physical, or psychosocial disabilities. As a Youth Support Worker, you will work within a therapeutic model of care to provide safety and empowerment, helping young people build skills and strengths.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide direct person-centered support and care to young people, ensuring their individual needs are met.
  • Support young people to develop independent living skills, achieve their goals, and engage in their local communities.
  • Assist with daily care and support, including household duties, and transport young people to and from appointments.
  • Work alongside other professionals to deliver multi-disciplinary care and support connection to family and culture.

Requirements

  • Demonstrate a commitment to the safety of children, young people, and people with a disability.
  • Understand strength-based trauma-informed practice or be willing to learn.
  • Hold qualifications in Community Services, Residential Care, or related areas (Cert IV) or have equivalent experience.
  • Be willing to work a flexible roster, including weekends, evenings, and sleepovers.
  • Obtain the NDIS Workers Screening Check and NSW Working with Children Check prior to commencement.
