Job Title: Child Development Specialist

Aspire Support Services is seeking a highly skilled Child Development Specialist to join our team. The successful candidate will work alongside people with disabilities and their families to achieve their goals and aspirations.

The Child Development Specialist will provide psychological assessments, interventions, and therapy to children aged 0-8 years and their families. Using a family-centered and strengths-based approach, this position will provide guidance, resources, and supports utilizing the existing strengths of each child and based on the family's needs and choices.

The key responsibilities of this role include:

  • Applying person-centered care principles to provide service and education in line with individual and family goals.
  • Conducting comprehensive assessments, identifying goals, and providing evidence-based interventions such as cognitive behavior therapy and play therapy.
  • Developing educational and support sessions for children and parents.
  • Undertaking comprehensive assessments such as cognitive, developmental, learning, and behavioral difficulties and Autism Spectrum Disorders.
  • Designing effective support programs.
  • Facilitating referrals to external services as required.
  • Providing short-medium term counseling for clients and their families as appropriate.
  • Evaluating and reviewing therapeutic interventions.
  • Providing timely follow-up for clients, family members, carers, case managers, and other service providers.
  • Collaborating with and providing secondary consultation.
  • Collaborating with the broader Early Childhood Intervention Team to provide group interventions.
  • Ensuring service delivery is culturally appropriate and respectful of diverse communities.
  • Meeting organizational funding targets in relation to service delivery criteria.
  • Ensuring up-to-date records according to quality standards.
  • Supervising students and volunteers as required, or as appropriate.
  • Participating in identifying professional development and training needs and attending professional development activities.

The successful candidate will have:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Psychology.
  • Current professional registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and a member of the Australian Psychological Society.
  • Endorsed area of practice in Educational and Developmental Psychology and/or Clinical Psychology.
