About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Strategic Planning Manager to join our team at Rockhampton Regional Council. As a key member of our planning team, you will play a vital role in the management of future growth and development of the region.

Key Responsibilities
  • Apply best practice strategic planning concepts and manage strategic planning projects, including project management, community engagement, consultation, and cross-functional collaboration and coordination.
  • Develop and implement strategic plans to guide urban and regional growth, ensuring alignment with relevant legislation, policies, and procedures.
  • Build and maintain effective partnerships with key stakeholders, including community groups, developers, and other government agencies.
  • Conduct research and analysis to inform planning decisions, including data forecasting and trend analysis.
  • Develop and maintain knowledge of relevant legislation, policies, and procedures, including the Planning Act 2016.
Requirements
  • Strong understanding and/or proven experience of working with a Queensland local government town planning or related business environment and processes.
  • Detailed understanding of managing and guiding urban and regional growth through a strong knowledge of strategic land use planning concepts, policy, and legislation.
  • Positive attitude and ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to develop strong working relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Proven writing skills, with experience undertaking research and drafting concise reports, correspondence, and presentations.
