Mental Health Therapy Aide
Key Responsibilities- Provide direct care services, treatment, rehabilitation, and support to individuals diagnosed with mental illness in institutional or community-based settings.
- Encourage individuals to develop daily living skills and assist in providing a clean, safe, and comfortable environment.
- Work with other staff to develop, carry out, and record care plans, and administer medication as per special instructions.
- Participate in games and recreational programs to promote mental well-being and socialization.
- Respond to emergency situations and prioritize the health and safety of patients and staff.
- Communicate effectively with individuals and staff to ensure seamless care delivery and address any concerns or issues that may arise.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement personalized care plans that address the unique needs and goals of each individual.
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of patient interactions, treatment plans, and progress to ensure continuity of care and inform future interventions.
- Adhere to established protocols and guidelines for medication administration, infection control, and other critical aspects of mental health care to ensure a safe and therapeutic environment.
- Stay up-to-date with relevant training and professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge in mental health care and support.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives to identify areas for improvement and contribute to the development of evidence-based practices that enhance patient outcomes and satisfaction.
- Engage in reflective practice to identify personal strengths and areas for growth and development, and seek feedback from colleagues and supervisors to inform professional development and improve practice.
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to relevant policies and procedures to protect patient privacy and confidentiality.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by supervisors or management to support the effective delivery of mental health services and the achievement of organizational goals and objectives.
- A high school diploma or equivalent, with a focus on mental health, social work, or a related field.
- Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing, to interact with individuals and staff in a clear and respectful manner.
- Basic knowledge of mental health principles, practices, and laws, with a focus on the rights and dignity of individuals with mental illness.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, with a focus on prioritizing tasks, managing stress, and maintaining a professional demeanor under pressure.
- Basic computer skills, with a focus on using electronic medical records and other software applications to support care delivery and data management.

- Physical stamina to perform tasks that require standing, walking, and lifting, with a focus on maintaining a safe and healthy work environment.

- Basic knowledge of cultural competence, with a focus on understanding and respecting the diversity of individuals and families served.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team, with a focus on building strong relationships with colleagues, supervisors, and other stakeholders to achieve shared goals and objectives.
