Child Protection Specialist

We are seeking a dedicated and dynamic professional to join our team at John Hunter Children's Hospital, committed to providing high-quality care to children who have experienced physical abuse and neglect, and their families.

About the Role:

  • Deliver outstanding clinical care to children, including conducting complex psychosocial assessments.
  • Coordinate child protection paediatric clinics and provide consultation and support related to child protection practices.
  • Contribute to the team's acute response, clinical advice, and long-term health coordination through outpatient clinics.
  • Develop innovative strategies and solutions for complex patient cases in acute and community settings.
  • Foster strong, constructive relationships with medical, nursing, and allied health colleagues to enhance the hospital's child protection response.

Requirements:

  • Thrive in a fast-paced acute care environment and value collaboration within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Be committed to improving outcomes for patients who have experienced complex trauma and can work collaboratively to provide a trauma-informed service.
  • Be courageous, resilient, and motivated to advocate for the needs of patients and their families.
  • Enjoy contributing to a multidisciplinary response and ensuring patients are supported through the health system and beyond discharge.
  • Possess a proactive, organised, and diligent approach to work, with a deep understanding of the impacts of violence, abuse, and neglect on individuals, families, and communities.
  • Have prior experience delivering culturally appropriate and competent services and excel in communication, leadership, and time management.
