Job Title: Operations Manager

A key role has become available within our team, focusing on operational management and conservation outcomes.

This position will be based in Alice Springs with regular trips to Ngalurrtju, where you will work collaboratively with stakeholders to drive effective conservation practices.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate planning meetings with Traditional Owners to ensure work plans are aligned with their goals.
  • Establish and manage an Indigenous ranger team, ensuring adherence to standard operating systems.
  • Develop positive stakeholder relationships and drive conservation outcomes through metrics such as indicator species populations and reduction in un-prescribed fires.
  • Manage resources efficiently according to approved plans, ensuring integration between operations and science teams.
  • Engage with stakeholders and communicate AWC's conservation model and achievements.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Formal qualifications in a relevant field are advantageous, but strong practical experience and a proven track record in land management are highly valued.
  • Licenses and certifications: valid manual driver's license with 4WD experience; senior first aid certificate (remote certification); agricultural machinery licenses; firearms license; chemical use certification; National Police Check (or equivalent).
  • Living and working in rural or remote areas; ability to supervise teams in diverse locations.
  • Information technology proficiency with standard business software and cloud services.
  • Willingness to travel as needed; passion for conservation.
