As Mobile Engineering Manager at Sonder, you will have the opportunity to lead a team of talented engineers building high-quality, scalable iOS and Android applications and supporting services.You will play a key role in shaping the mobile technology roadmap, working closely with Product Managers, Solution Architects, and cross-functional teams to ensure mobile solutions align with architectural standards, user needs, and business priorities.Main Responsibilities:
  • Lead and mentor a high-performing iOS and Android engineering team, fostering growth, trust, and engineering excellence through coaching and feedback.
  • Own the planning, prioritisation, and execution of mobile initiatives across iOS and Android, managing priorities and dependencies to ensure predictable, high-quality delivery.
  • Drive continuous improvement of our native mobile architecture (Swift + Kotlin), focusing on scalability, security, maintainability, and reducing technical debt.
  • Embed agile and DevOps best practices—including CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and tooling improvements—to enhance engineering quality and velocity.
  • Champion engineering standards around secure coding, reliability, performance, and observability throughout the mobile development lifecycle.
  • Collaborate closely with Product, Design, QA, and Architecture to deliver seamless, user-focused mobile experiences.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
  • 10+ years of engineering experience, including hands-on mobile development (iOS and/or Android).
  • 5+ years leading mobile or cross-functional teams in agile, fast-moving environments.
  • Strong technical expertise in Swift, Kotlin, and ideally exposure to React Native.
  • Proven ability to influence mobile strategy and deliver scalable platforms, with experience modernising and evolving existing mobile architectures.
  • Deep understanding of mobile app lifecycle, CI/CD pipelines, and cloud infrastructure (AWS/GCP).
