Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate nurse to join our interdisciplinary team in providing participant-centered healthcare.

The successful candidate will use a harm reduction, trauma-informed approach to assess, screen, and educate individuals with complex primary care health needs and active poly-substance use.

This is an excellent opportunity for a registered nurse, registered psychiatric nurse, or licensed practical nurse to make a meaningful difference in the lives of our clients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide care and support for individuals with high levels of poly-substance use and acute and chronic conditions.
  • Work collaboratively with the SAFER team to support people contemplating or accessing prescribed pharmaceutical alternatives to illegal/toxic substances.
  • Assess, screen, educate, refer, and advocate regarding substance use, acute and chronic health concerns, mental health, sexual health, wound management, and general wellness.
  • Collaborate with participants and the team to develop and maintain individualized care plans.
  • Work with community partners to ensure seamless support of mutual participants.
  • Administer medications as ordered by program physicians and according to clinical protocols.
  • Provide education, information, and referrals that are responsive to the self-identified needs of participants.
Qualifications
  • Registered Nurse, Registered Psychiatric Nurse, or Licensed Practical Nurse registered with a relevant regulatory body.
  • Minimum 1 to 5 years' full scope, outreach nursing experience working with people with high levels of poly-substance use and mental health challenges.
  • Previous experience working in supervised consumption/overdose prevention services, safer supply, or other harm reduction programs.
  • Demonstrated commitment to social justice principles and practices, including harm reduction, anti-racism, decolonization, combating stigma related to drug use, HIV, hepatitis C, and challenging gendered oppression, ableism, homophobia, and transphobia.

  • Pay: $41.42-$55.91 (BCNU pay grid) and LPN Level 1 ($32.84-$41.35)
  • Position Type: Regular, Part Time
  • Hours and Schedule: Shifts between 9:00am to 6:00pm
