We are seeking an experienced Transport Operations Supervisor to join the team at our VIC Depot in Altona. As a key member of our operations team, you will play a crucial role in ensuring a safe and cost-effective operation that meets the needs of our customers and team members.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in express freight operations and possess excellent leadership and communication skills. You will be responsible for supervising transport and logistics functions, managing depot staff, and ensuring the efficient and safe loading and unloading of freight.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Supervising transport and logistics functions, including load maximization and time management of depot staff
  • Daily management of the business to achieve planned KPIs, cost outcomes, safety measures, and service levels
  • Ensuring the efficient, safe, and secure loading, unloading, movement, and packing of freight
  • Leading and mentoring direct reports to create a customer-first culture that delivers great results
  • Working alongside the Depot Manager, Truck Drivers, and Operations Support areas to ensure smooth shift operations
  • Effectively communicating with team members and key stakeholders
  • Performing quality checks on materials/stock and identifying and reporting damages, shortages, or quality deficiencies
  • Ensuring accurate loading documentation is completed
  • Inspecting machinery, including forklifts and other control equipment, to determine the need for repairs and guarantee safety

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • A minimum 3 years' experience in a similar role
  • A background in express freight operations preferable
  • Forklift License (Desirable)
  • Competence with Microsoft Programs
  • Strong written and verbal communication and problem-solving skills
  • Knowledge and experience with CoR regulations and compliance relating to the transport industry
  • A good working knowledge of express transport operations
  • A good working knowledge of FMCG transport operations
  • Resilience, passion, and ability to work under pressure
  • A strong focus on safety and compliance
  • Motivation and energy with a strong focus on achieving outstanding customer experience results
