Job Title: Senior Mechanical Design Engineer

About the Role:

  • We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team at Weir Minerals.
  • The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the development of innovative engineering solutions for new products and equipment.
  • This role will also involve assisting with on-site installation, commissioning, and operation of prototypes and trial equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Demonstrate creativity and take an active lead in ideation, developing concept designs with novel features.
  2. Take a design lead role for projects, preparing 3D models and supervising production of detailed drawings.
  3. Ensure suitable completion of major mechanical and structural design functions, utilizing parametric and synchronous modeling techniques.
  4. Follow our NPI development process, taking designs to the next level with safe on-site installation, commissioning, and operation of prototypes and trial equipment.
  5. Develop products, sub-systems, and enhancements with a primary focus on safety, ensuring designs are easy to use, deliver high quality, and are cost-effective.

Requirements:

  • A bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline, preferably a master's degree.
  • 10 years of experience in minerals processing equipment.
  • In-depth knowledge of NX modeling, Teamcenter within Citrix, parts libraries, workflow, and document control.
  • Familiarity with Ansys FEA, structural design, basic pressure vessel design, piping system design, weld selection and sizing, bearing life, and rotating shaft design.
