Seeking a Skilled Technician for Rocket Assembly and Maintenance

Gilmour Space Technologies is seeking an experienced technician to work on the assembly and maintenance of rocket structures.

">

The ideal candidate will have a Level 3 Trade qualification in Aerospace, Fitting or a similar trade and at least 3 years of experience in a relevant industry such as aerospace, manufacturing, marine or automotive.

Responsibilities include:

  • Modifying, repairing, assembling and installing rocket structures
  • Using tooling holes, pilot holes or by hand per drawing or tooling instructions
  • Aligning parts and securing them in place using clecos or tooling/hand clamps
  • Checking for good edge margins and alignment
  • Shimming and/or trimming parts as required
  • Selecting drill bits, reamers and/or countersinking tools for pilot and full-size holes
  • Locating, drilling pilot holes using a drill motor and proper size drill bit(s)
  • Drilling, reaming, countersinking full-size holes in parts/assemblies in proper sequence and to correct size using a drill motor
  • Setting countersinking tools to proper depth as required
  • Disassembling parts and deburring holes using chip chasers, deburring tools and files to prepare for installation of fasteners
  • Using solvents to clean surfaces prior to sealing or assembly
  • Handling and disposing of hazardous materials in approved manner
  • Determining and obtaining correct type and size fasteners
  • Installing fasteners in correct sequence per drawing using correct tools
  • Checking work after completion of each operation in job and/or completed job to ensure it is complete per drawing
  • Other duties as requested by Management
