Job Description

**About the Role**

Darebin City Council is seeking a skilled Heritage Officer to join their Statutory Planning team. As a key member of the team, you will provide detailed heritage advice, research complex heritage issues, and review heritage considerations related to planning applications and other Council functions.

**Key Responsibilities**

  • Lead the preparation and provision of high-quality heritage services and advice to internal and external customers.
  • Conduct research into complex heritage issues, including assessments of major projects and policies.
  • Prepare and present well-reasoned briefings and reports to Council, management, and agencies.
  • Represent Council at panel hearings and hearings at the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal.
  • Formulate heritage planning scheme policies, research studies, and guidelines.

**Requirements**

  • Tertiary qualifications in urban planning or a related discipline.
  • Experience in heritage advice, urban design, statutory and strategic planning, and policy development.
  • Strong written, oral communication, and presentation skills, as well as customer service and liaison skills.
