About the Role

Westpac Institutional Bank is seeking a highly experienced Director to join our Financial Institutions and Government team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for managing a portfolio of financial institutions and non-bank financial institutions, including the origination process for new transactions and the ongoing monitoring and management of the existing customer portfolio.

Key Responsibilities

  • Writing credit submissions, including detailed risk analysis, assessment, and recommendations
  • Presenting and negotiating submissions through WIB's risk management decision process
  • Leading the structuring of transactions, including the negotiation of acceptable terms and conditions
  • Performing the Responsible Officer review and oversight function for a select portfolio of clients
  • Managing portfolio credit risk and portfolio hygiene, including preparation and oversight of annual reviews, and ensuring triggers are actioned and covenants monitored in a timely manner
  • Monitoring and researching market and industry trends, and providing relevant industry insights and thought leadership to internal and external stakeholders
  • Leading a team of 6 analysts, bringing in-depth industry knowledge to lead, coach, and develop more junior colleagues

Requirements

  • 10+ years' experience in wholesale banking or a related field, with experience in credit writing and credit assessment
  • Thorough understanding of the FI and NBFI space, with expertise in the banks and finance company sectors highly regarded
  • Strong attention to detail, with the ability to juggle multiple priorities
  • Demonstrated ability to build and manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including customers
  • People leadership or coaching experience highly regarded
  • Solid understanding of wholesale banking products
  • Degree in an analytical focused field, such as finance, business, or economics
  • Ability to be a compelling communicator, and deliver well-written, quality analysis that addresses readers' needs
  • Ability to demonstrate intimate knowledge of customers through client meetings, research, and interaction with stakeholders
  • Ability to build an environment of trust with external and internal stakeholders
