Job Role

This position involves performing various financial tasks, including accounting activities, balance sheet reconciliations, and preparing quarterly financial packages. The successful candidate will also assist with ad-hoc responsibilities such as system implementation and internal controls.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform routine financial close activities, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial package preparation.
  • Prepare quarterly balance sheet account reconciliations, cash reconciliations, and investigate unusual items.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed quarterly accrual schedules.
  • Ensure accurate and timely recording and reconciliation of all intercompany activity by researching and resolving differences with other entities.
  • Provide support to the corporate team, as necessary.
  • Assist with other ad-hoc responsibilities, including participation in special projects.
Requirements
  • 5+ years of strong and progressive accounting experience, including experience in preparing financial statements and flux analyses.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting required. CPA and/or MBA preferred.
  • Strong understanding and application of U.S. GAAP and SOX. Statutory accounting and reinsurance background preferred.
  • Oracle ERP, Hyperion/FCCS, Smartview, and/or similar accounting software experience a plus.
  • Intermediate to advanced skill in Excel required.
  • Critical thinker with ability to prepare workbooks from the ground up based on terms of contracts and/or assumptions.
  • Self-starter, proactive in looking for ways to improve, hard-working, and highly analytical.
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize competing commitments in a fast-paced environment, and deliver under tight deadlines.
  • Strong attention to detail and capable of delivering high-quality work results.
  • Ability to work independently, as well as, in a team environment.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
