About the Role

The Radio Frequency (RF) Systems Researcher/Technologist will play a key role in our team, working on scientific experimentation and engineering activities within the RF domain. This involves supporting the vulnerability assessment of complex RF systems and technologies, working collaboratively with a multi-disciplinary team to analyze radar and RF system performance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Apply experimental and analytical techniques to develop capabilities for the vulnerability assessment of complex systems and technologies.
  • Apply knowledge, principles, and techniques in RF measurement, test instrument control, and engineering in complex RF-based laboratory experimentation.
  • Work collaboratively in teams to support research and analysis activities.

Sensors and Effectors leads the impetus for innovation within Australian force operations by providing science and technology advice about equipment, personnel, and processes. Our team is dedicated to undertaking research and development in Scientific and Technical Intelligence (STI) technologies and techniques to understand current and future threats and protect Australian interests.

What We're Looking For
  • A collaborative team player with a strong background in RF systems and technologies.
  • Excellent communication and reporting skills, with the ability to produce high-quality scientific and engineering reports.
  • Experience in managing facilities and allocated resources, with a focus on meeting S&T deliverables in a timely manner.
Desirable Skills
  • Knowledge of RF systems and technologies.
  • Experience with electronic test, data acquisition, and control equipment.
  • Programming skills in languages such as Python, MATLAB, and/or LabVIEW.
  • Signal processing or software/firmware/Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) analysis techniques.
