**Key Responsibilities**

We are seeking a skilled Radar Systems Technician to join our Strategic Surveillance Business Unit based at RAAF Base Edinburgh, SA.

As a Radar Systems Technician, you will be responsible for ensuring the operational availability of ICT and engineering systems in support of the RAAF surveillance capabilities.

  • System Administration: Perform basic system administration functions utilising the Red Hat operating system to support the Jindalee Operational Radar Network (JORN) and other relevant surveillance systems.
  • Fault-Finding and Maintenance: Assist in system level fault-finding, including the management of faults and liaising between the customer, field technicians and engineering teams to ensure ICT systems, emergency backup power and cooling systems are available.
  • Preventative Maintenance: Perform inspections and conduct preventative maintenance to ensure availability of ICT systems.
  • Documentation: Ensure documentation of all faults and maintenance activities are conducted in accordance with engineering procedures.

About You

As an ideal applicant for this opportunity, you'll have:

  • A current Negative Vetting 1 security clearance and will be required to apply for a Negative Vetting 2.
  • Broad technical experience across areas such as Radar / Telecoms / Electronics / IT Networking and Systems Administration.
  • Experience working in a customer focused technical team, and able to work with minimal supervision.
  • The ability to demonstrate analytical approach to problem solving, with a focus on achieving objectives and ensuring effective outcomes.
  • Experience in administering Red Hat Linux operating system is highly desirable.
  • Experience in network troubleshooting including switching and routing (desirable).
  • Experience in RF or radar systems (desirable).
