About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Radio Frequency (RF) Systems Researcher/Technologist to join our team at APS. As a key member of our Sensors and Effectors group, you will play a critical role in advancing our scientific and technical capabilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct scientific experimentation and engineering activities to support the vulnerability assessment of complex RF systems and technologies.
  • Work collaboratively with our multi-disciplinary team to analyze radar and RF system performance through instrumentation, electronics, and algorithm and signal processing analysis.
  • Develop insights into complex system interactions through applied research and experimentation.
Requirements
  • Apply experimental and analytical techniques to develop capabilities for the vulnerability assessment of complex systems and technologies.
  • Apply knowledge, principles, and techniques in RF measurement, test instrument control, and/or engineering in complex RF-based laboratory experimentation.
  • Work collaboratively in teams to support research and analysis activities.
About Our Team

Sensors and Effectors leads the impetus for innovation within Australian force operations by providing science and technology advice about equipment, personnel, and processes. Our Science and Technology Capability (STC), Vulnerability Assessment and Protection (VAP) Group, undertakes research and development in Scientific and Technical Intelligence (STI) technologies and techniques to understand current and future threats and protect Australian interests.

Desirable Skills
  • RF systems.
  • The use of electronic test, data acquisition, and control equipment.
  • Software programming languages such as Python, MATLAB, and/or LabVIEW.
  • Signal processing or software/firmware/Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) analysis techniques.
