Mainframe API Engineer

About the RoleWe're seeking an experienced API specialist to join our Mainframe Core Systems team, assisting us in managing the rapidly growing use of this technology in the Bank. The Core Systems team manages IMS, Db2, MQ, and z/OS Connect API technologies, providing support and management, including life-cycle management of these software. You will become a key player in the design, build, implementation, monitoring, and support of high-availability API configurations across Production and non-Production environments.
Key Responsibilities- Translating customer requirements into high-performance, resilient API solutions, working with other specialists.
- Providing technical support and consulting to API customers and support teams.
- Developing and maintaining API architecture and patterns for consumption, including zOS Connect OpenAPI 2 and/or OpenAPI 3 protocols.
- Providing rostered 24/7 support with other team members, of our IMS, Db2, MQ, CICS Production transaction processing systems.
- Mentoring and training other team members to help build their API management skills.
- Demonstrable skills managing API processing in multiple mainframe environments, operating technologies including DevOps (Git, Ansible, ZOWE, z/OSMF), Unix System Services on z/OS, z/OS Connect.
- Problem determination and resolution expertise, including performance management experience, preferably utilizing technologies including Splunk, IMS Performance Analyzer, BMC Log Analyzer, Mainview.
- Experience supporting users of API services, preferably including exposure to programming languages REXX, Python, COBOL, Assembler.
- The ability to communicate mainframe API processing standards and best practice to customers, including application support and development teams.
- Knowledge and understanding of complex security and threat reduction processes in API and transaction processing environments, preferably using RACF and zSecure.
