About the Role

We're seeking an API specialist to join our Mainframe Core Systems team, assisting us in managing the growing use of this technology in the Bank. The Core Systems team manages IMS, Db2, MQ, and z/OS Connect API technologies, providing support and management, including life-cycle management of these software.

The role will combine your current foundation in API technology with a solid understanding of industry best practices and standards, optimising API performance, ensuring secure, efficient systems, and effective management. You will also have a role mentoring other team members in API installation, usage, performance, and tuning, monitoring, and system architecture.

Key Responsibilities

  • Translating customer requirements into high-performance, resilient API solutions
  • Providing technical support and consulting to API customers and support teams
  • Developing and maintaining API architecture and patterns for consumption, including z/OS Connect OpenAPI 2 and/or OpenAPI 3 protocols
  • Providing rostered 24/7 support with other team members, of our IMS, Db2, MQ, CICS Production transaction processing systems
  • Mentoring and training other team members to help build their API management skills
